Four Day Professional Development Workshop led by nationally renowned faculty is one of the nations’ foremost training grounds in the art of cabaret performance

 

RNI Productions announces a FOUR DAY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP focusing on the Art of Song Performance led by multiple award-winning performers and teachers LINA KOUTRAKOS, RICK JENSEN, ALEX RYBECK and JASON GRAAE.  TIM SCHALL is producer for this event which takes place at Unity Christ Church, 33 N. Skinker (at Forsyth), from August 14-17, 2008.  

 

Lina Koutrakos and Rick Jensen are serving as Master Teachers for the event for the third consecutive year. They are multiple award winning performers, teachers and directors who, for over 10 years, have taught on-going Advanced Performance workshops in New York.  They have served on the faculties of The O’Neill Cabaret Symposium at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center in Waterford, Connecticut, The Cabaret Conference at Yale University and Summer in the City in New York.  They have co-taught professional development workshops for singers in Chicago, Santa Fe and Boston. Koutrakos is a 2007 MAC Award (Manhattan Assoc. of Cabarets & Clubs) winner for BEST MAJOR ARTIST, female and BEST DIRECTOR. Jensen is a multiple MAC award wining music director, composer and arranger who has worked with, among others, Barbara Fasano, Tovah Feldshuh and cabaret legend Nancy LaMott.  

 

They will once again be joined this year by Alex Rybeck, one of the top music directors in Manhattan’s cabaret scene. Rybeck has toured the country collaborating with Broadway and Cabaret stars Ann Hampton Callaway, Liz Callaway, Faith Prince, Marni Nixon, Jeff Harnar, the late Kitty Carlisle Hart and many others.  Joining the faculty this year is Broadway and cabaret sensation Jason Graae, award winning New York and Los Angeles performer. Graae also has a successful theater career on and off Broadway and in multiple Los Angeles productions. He has made many television appearances and is featured on numerous recordings. Graae has taught on the faculty of the Cabaret Conference at Yale for several years.  

 

The core of the 4 days will focus on performance coaching, facilitated by Koutrakos, Jensen, Rybeck and Graae.  30 Singers will break up into two smaller groups of 15 and work with each teaching team throughout the day. Participants receive individualized feedback on their performance in the following areas:  connection to material, physical choices, song selection, interpretation, arrangements, audience connection and internal/external focus of song.  Other topics included are constructing a show, working with your musical director, the importance of the Arrangement and Patter.  The 4 day event will include evening performances listed below.  COST:  $675, includes tickets to all of the evening performances.  Space is limited to 30 performers.  Interested participants should contact Tim Schall, RNI Productions at 314-721-4634 or at tjschall@sbcglobal.net.
